Lee Fields at Arts Riot
New years on pine street again

Lee Fields has been playing soul and R&B since the late 1960s, long enough to have opened for James Brown — which earned him the nickname “Little JB.” He faded from view for a stretch, then came roaring back in the 2000s with a string of records on Truth & Soul and later Big Crown, sounding like he’d been kept in a vault. Raw voice, impeccable band, stagecraft that makes most younger performers look like they’re still figuring it out.
New Year’s Day at Arts Riot. Not a bad way to bring in the new year.
