They weren’t happy with the results from a logo contest, but it helped them shape the concept.
Owned and operated by a brother in-law team, they wanted their relationship to be central to their business. The mythical hop trees sprout from different grounds and meet together. Each beer will follow suit with a related name: Brother IPA, Sister Session, etc.
The style of the trees is of old illustration. Their coloring has a non-digital feeling of early Winnie the Pooh, contrasting the bold and non-drawn text.
The benefits of branding:
- to create a perception of quality
- to differentiate from the competition
- to define the company personality
In this case, it also created financial padding. Because the owners chose to invest in a logo and merchandise early, they already have means for income besides beer.
